"View new posts" issue

I always use the "Niew new posts" link in the upper area of this forum.
Sometimes when I go to the page it says "20" for example and when I click on it, it says "18".
I thought maybe a mod was active and deleted or merged a post at that very moment.

However I just logged in and there were 22 new posts (actually 22 threads that have been updated), but when I clicked on it, it only showed 4 threads.

Kinda annyoing because now I have to go from forum to forum and check if there are new posts.

Why Should I Post?

Some of you that browse SOMF don't post that much. You may lurk around and soak up all the information around you. Or maybe you don't see a reason to post? Well here are a few incentives/reasons for why you SHOULD post .

- At 100 posts you can view the "Inner Secrets" area with lots of awesome effects and tutorials.

- At 100 posts you can also view the Inventions section, where you can discuss your own creations or help other members with their own.

- You can also apply to be a mod when you reach 100 posts.

- Every post you make helps our community grow. The more you post, the bigger we will get, and the more you will learn.

- If you are scared to post, don't be, we don't bite, and any thing you have to say is a good contribution.

- You may become the member of the month!

- Members will get to know you better, and you may become popular on the forum!

- Sharing your knowledge with everyone. If you share what you know, others may share what they know!

If you have any other reasons why you should post, feel free to post them here.

Mike

Hostility Lately On The Forum

I've noticed a lot of hostility on the forum lately so would you all kindly knock it off.

We are supposed to be a friendly forum and I see tons of topics of people getting into arguments, putting other members down, snide comments and much more.

It just seems like everyone is at each others throats lately and it's really starting to bug me. Could we all just get along again and stop putting down other members because you don't agree with there post, or there post wasn't good enough or you took something the wrong way.

I don't mind when members poke fun at each other, as long as both the parties agree to it.

I hate having to tell everyone to calm down and PM members and all that garbage, it's not what this forum is about. We are here to discuss magic and we're much more open than "The Magic Cafe" or some other forum. If you said half the stuff on that forum that we do here you'd be banned. Hell spelling mistakes get people banned on places like that, so be grateful all that stuff is allowed here.

Mike

secret section

I just wondered where is the secrets section and what is the criterion for accessing it? I saw it mentioned in a thread, on Gecko, I think. It is not a complaint but I wonderd why, on a board for teaching magic, one part would be off limits to some. Are the REAL secrets in there?

I though I had sent this in a PM to Mike yesterday but it does not seem to be in my sent folder? If I did sorry for duplicating
